Dr. Debra Kalan, M.D.

Medical Director

Dr. Debra Kalan, M.D. is a board-certified psychiatrist with 25 years of experience and expertise treating adolescents and adults struggling with mental health issues in various settings, including acute care, residential programs, and partial hospitalization programs. She has a longstanding commitment to providing comprehensive and compassionate psychiatric care to improve the well-being of others. Dr. Kalan earned her Bachelor of Science degree in psychobiology and her medical degree from the University of Southern California. She completed her residency in Psychiatry and Neurology as well as her fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center. Following her training, she worked for non-profit organizations to provide individualized, evidenced-based care to children, adolescents and transitional age youth in underserved communities. Dr. Kalan returned to USC in 2019 to work as a clinical professor at the Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences Clinic in the Engemann Student Health Center to provide long-term mental health services for students on campus. She provided specialized treatment to students as part of the gender care and eating disorder treatment teams. 

Dr. Kalan joins Centered Health as Medical Director to continue providing comprehensive, empathetic, and engaged care to teens and adults with the goal of improving long-term functioning, and more importantly, well-being for happier and productive lives.

She enjoys spending her free time engaging in outdoor activities, especially walking and running along the beach, riding her bike, and paddle boarding.
